Services at Rae-Ann Suburban

Rae-Ann Suburban Orthopedic Rehabilitation

Orthopedic rehabilitation at Rae-Ann Suburban utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to identify, prevent, remediate and rehabilitate acute or chronic physical dysfunction. In order to maximize functional independence, each rehab patient is evaluated and treated based on an individualized plan of care that includes flexibility exercises, strength training and endurance activities.

Therapists will use these programs to focus on posture, locomotion, balance, coordination, joint mobility, pain management and functional abilities in activities of daily living for each rehab patient. Typical diagnoses of rehab patients seen in our rehabilitation unit include joint replacements, fractures, amputations and functional losses secondary to debilitating medical conditions.

Our therapists are keenly aware of the special needs of our orthopedic rehab patients and have a tremendous success rate in helping them reach their goal of being discharged at a higher functional level compare to the day of admission.

Rae-Ann Suburban Wound Care

Our wound care team provides expert nursing care and the latest technologies to assist patients with compromised skin conditions, including venous stasis, arterial, diabetic, surgical, pressure, and trauma wounds.

We are one of the only facilities in the area to employ state-of-the-art light therapy to stimulate cellular energy, increase blood flow, and speed the healing process. Our light therapy has also been successful in treating patients with severe or chronic pain. Other equipment utilized to assist our patients includes E Stim, Infrared, Anodyne, Ultrasound, and TENS Units.

The most important part of wound care emphasizes prevention. All residents sleep on pressure-relieving mattresses, not less-expensive inner-spring mattresses like those found at other skilled care facilities. This wound care protocol, combined with frequent turning, repositioning, and excellent nursing care, has produced
outstanding patient outcomes.
